The Global Coalition on Aging is pleased to be working with the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) to develop its second Policy Dialogue on Aging, Health and Innovation in coordination with its third Senior Officials Meeting (SOM3) in San Francisco in September.
In conjunction with its Senior Officials Meetings taking place across the United States in 2011, APEC, led by its Health Working Group, is focusing great attention on the challenges - and opportunities - brought on by population aging. The day-long dialogue will include healthcare and technology experts from the private sector interacting with high-level officials representing the 21 APEC Member Economies. The goals are to develop strategies for a life-course approach to healthy and active aging, promote innovation that drives solutions for growing aging populations and share best practices that allow economies to thrive while faced with 21st-century demographic realities.
The Global Coalition also partnered with APEC for its first Aging Policy Dialogue on March 8, when great progress was made toward developing collaborative solutions for and advancing the discussion on aging populations.
The 21 APEC Member Economies are Australia, Brunei Darussalam, Canada, Chile, People's Republic of China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Republic of Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Peru, The Philippines, Russia, Singapore, Chinese Taipei, Thailand, The United States and Viet Nam.
